I teach piano, classical organ, keyboard, singing and theory on a "one to one" basis to both adults and children.
Lessons are for 30 or 45 minutes (20 minutes in the case of extremely young children). My fees are £30 per hour.
Some of my students are entered for the examinations of the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM). Not everyone wants to study for examinations though - some students wish to play simply for enjoyment without the pressure of examinations. (Examinations are good goal for children to aim for and it gives them something to work towards). I have had a 100% pass rate in ABRSM examinations since 1988! I am firmly of the opinion that music lessons should be fun and enjoyable.
I teach in Hayle, St Ives, Falmouth, Penzance and Helston and can occasionally (timetable permitting) do home visits by arrangement. Since 2017, I have been undertaking a small amount of teaching, playing, singing and conducting in my native Lancashire too, mainly at weekends.
I do NOT subscribe to "group tuition" - I frequently hear of other service providers teaching two or three children on the same piano at the same time, and even groups of four or five at a time sharing a keyboard (or other instrumental) lesson. I consider such practices to be a waste of money and I can't for one minute, see how satisfactory progress can be made in such circumstances!
